WITHOUT PREJUDICE

The following article is written as an opinion only. It is not intended to defame Microsoft or Toshiba.

In my opinion Vista is the worst operating system that has ever been released. I dont say that lightly as Windows ME was pretty terrible.

I bought an expensive laptop which cost around $3000 which had Windows Vista Ultimate pre installed. After the first update that the machine did, the in built webcam no longer worked. Nothing i can do will make it work. I have tried downloading the latest software directly from Toshiba, i have installed all the patches from Microsoft and yet still no webcam.

If i want to pay a Toshiba or Microsoft for technical advice, then they will look into it for me.

Put simply, Vista is too complicated for the average person. Hey, i’m a computer ‘Professional’ and its too complicated for me.

On the surface it has a nice look and feel about it. The side bar is great, the image handling is great and generally it looks great. But try and deviate from teh script slightly and you will soon find problems.

For example. I have a laser jet printer. The printer is about 3 years old but works really well and is made by HP. There is no driver for Vista (and never will be) so i cant use the printer. My mobile phone (Sony) is 1 year old and i cant plug that in either.

What a croc!

One thing Microsoft always did was manage backward compatibility well with their operating systems but frankly Windows Vista is beyond a joke.

Beyond the joke is also the support. There is none. You can pay for somebody to help you but frankly that is not funny when you have spent alot of money on a new laptop.
